Rising from the ranks of State Trooper, all the way to becoming the first female head of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, Alecia Webb Edgington proved both her toughness and her enthusiasm for the law.  In February of 2008, she also proved her political savvy by running and winning a special election for the Kentucky State House of Representatives.

Throughout her varied public safety career, Alecia has always found herself in a leadership role.  Whether it was as Commander of the Criminal Identification and Records Branch, Major of the Technical Services Division, Chief Information Officer, or Deputy Director, Operations and Prevention, KOHS, she always proved that leadership is a responsibility and an opportunity to thrive.

After retiring from the State Police and leaving the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, Alecia began working for the National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, where she assists public safety agencies nationwide in automated systems development, integration of communications and information technology, and communications interoperability.

As a life-long conservative, Alecia found the opportunity to continue to serve the Commonwealth by running for State Representative in the 63rd Legislative District.  Winning the special election in early 2008, Alecia proved that even the snow covered streets would not prevent her from rising to the challenge.  She was renominated in the Spring of 2008 and won her first full term in the fall of that year.

She and her husband Ted raise their daughter Jill in Kenton County.
